Pastor Tim Collard | Superintendent/Administrator
Pastor Collard came to Faith Baptist Church in August of 2007. He and his wife, Sandra, believe strongly in the value of Christian education. Their own two children graduated from a Christian school and college in Wisconsin.
With our former administrator, Mr. Shawn Haynie, leaving his position in order to re-enter missionary work, the FBCS Board has asked Pastor Collard to take the administrator’s position for the 2017-18 school year.
Mrs. Sara Fugate | K3 Teacher
Mrs. Fugate is the wife of Mark Fugate and a graduate of Pillsbury Baptist Bible College of Owatonna, Minnesota and brings years of experience as a Preschool teacher and Elementary Substitute Teacher as well as experience in homeschooling their own children.
Mrs. Fugate is also very musical and enjoys playing and teaching piano, organ and flute, as well as participating in many areas of music ministry in church. She is also burdened for ministry with women in the church.
Mrs. Theresa Justus | K4 Teacher
Mrs. Justus is a 1984 graduate of Faith Baptist Christian School. She completed her Christian Education degree at Fellowship Baptist College in 1987. Mrs. Justus is the wife of pastor Randy Justus of Grace Baptist Church and has taught at FBCS for fifteen years. Their three children are also graduates of FBCS!
Mrs. Justus’ life’s verse is Jeremiah 29:11, selected because it reminds her that God has a chosen path for everyone and that we can trust Him because He knows what is in store for us. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Mrs. Jayde Gress | Kindergarten Teacher
Mrs. Gress graduated from Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, Wisconsin. Previous to coming to Faith, she taught in a Christian school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Gress is an Illinois native, having grown up in Hoopeston and is married to an FBCS graduate, Jon (class of 2009).
Mrs. Gress enjoys cooking, running, and spending time with her pet dog, Luna! She also enjoys ministering in her local church.
Miss Carol Fryman | 1st & 2nd Grade Teacher
A native of Pekin, Miss Fryman received her teaching degree from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota. FBCS has been privileged to have her as an elementary teacher for over 30 years.
A verse that’s very special to Carol is II Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Miss Patricia Taylor | 3rd and 4th Grade Teacher
Miss Taylor is a graduate of Maranatha Baptist Bible College and has over 10 years of combined teaching experience in Christian schools in northern Michigan and here at FBCS. She came to us at the beginning of summer 2013 and was immediately active in our ministries. Miss Taylor teaches our 3rd and 4th grade classroom.
Miss Taylor’s life verse is Psalms 1:1-3, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Miss Diane Freeman | 5th and 6th Grade Teacher
Diane earned an elementary education degree from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota. She began her teaching career at Faith Baptist Christian School in 1980. Miss Freeman drives the bus for many of the field trips at FBCS.
Philippians 1:6 is Miss Freeman’s life verse. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Miss Trisha Herbert | Elementary and Secondary Music, Advanced Math
Miss Herbert graduated from Maranatha Baptist University in 2016. She was named Maranatha’s 2016 Outstanding Musician – an honor based on musicianship, academic achievement, spiritual and character qualities, and Christian service. She also had the distinction of graduating with a double major in Music Education and Math Education – both very rigorous academic endeavors.
As Fine Arts Director, Miss Herbert will be helping bring back our instrumental music program as well as directing our Upper Elementary and Secondary Choirs. She will also be teaching some of our upper level math classes.
Mrs. Shirley Pierce | Secondary English, Social Studies
Mrs. Pierce is a native to our area, having grown up in East Peoria. Shirley has a B.A. degree in Guidance Counseling from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. She came to FBCS in 2006 and enjoys teaching our secondary students.
When Shirley isn’t teaching at school, she is serving alongside her husband at Berea Baptist Church in Bartonville. She and Pastor Pierce have four married children and several grandchildren.
Mrs. Pierce’s favorite verse is Psalms 18:2, “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
Miss Elisabeth Pluth | Secondary Science, Computers, Speech, Social Studies
Miss Pluth is an Illinois native and a graduate of a sister IACS school in Frankfort IL. She also has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northland International University of Dunbar WI. She comes to FBCS this year with experience in teaching as well as tutoring in several different states.
As well as Science and Computer experience, Elisabeth also has extensive experience in Speech, Drama, and Music and hopes to contribute to the overall Fine Arts Program at FBCS.
Miss Pluth also is looking forward to using her talents to contribute to the local church ministries of Faith Baptist Church.
Pastor Chip Herbert | Chapel Ministry Coordinator, Bible, Advanced Math
Pastor Herbert is the Assistant Pastor at Faith Baptist Church. He earned his B.S. degree in Math Education from Maranatha Baptist University. He also earned a Master of Divinity degree at Maranatha Seminary. His primary duties are with the church, but he organizes the school’s chapel program and also teaches Bible and Advanced Math as needed. Pastor Chip learned to love Christian education from his father, who is a long time Christian school administrator.
A special verse to Pastor Chip is Philippians 2:9-11, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus ever knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Mrs. Sarah Herbert | Piano lessons, Girls Counselor
Mrs. Herbert graduated from Maranatha Baptist University with a Bachelors degree in Piano Performance. She then received her Masters degree in Biblical Counseling from Maranatha Baptist Seminary . She and Pastor Chip met when they were both involved in Maranatha’s Madrigal choir.
Mrs. Herbert has stepped down from an active teaching position at FBCS to be care for her children. But she is still offering private piano lessons and will be helping with counseling the girls. Verses special to Mrs. Herbert are Proverbs 3:5-6 and Psalms 37:4 .
Mrs. Jennifer Gase | Lunchroom Teacher/ Recess Monitor
Mrs. Gase is Pekin native and an integral part of the support staff at FBCS. She has helped in the school lunchroom and monitored elementary recess at FBCS for the past several years. She and her husband Toby have five children and one of them attends FBCS.
When she has free time, Mrs. Gase likes to work on her scrapbooking. She has also taught Sunday School at her local church for several years. Mrs. Gase has a servant’s heart and is always willing to go the extra mile to make everyone’s day run smoothly. Who doesn’t love the lunch lady?
Mrs. Tammi Lyons | 1st-4th Grade Art, Librarian
Mrs. Lyons is an alumnus of Faith Baptist Christian School, and a graduate of Pensacola Christian College. She has two children attending FBCS and has spent many hours as our school librarian.
Mrs. Lyons’ life verse is Phil. 2:21, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
